Volunteeting with JASMYN

Our Mission:"JASMYN supports and empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth by creating safe space, providing youth development services, and bringing people and resources together to promote diversity and human rights."

One way you can help JASMYN is to support a food fest.  A food fest is a night of food for the JASMYN youth sponsored by an individual or group.  The food fest donor supplies prepared food for up to 40 youth to be delivered during one of our groups or events. JASMYN occassionally utilizes adult volunteers, age 25 and older, that meet the needs of our agency and the youth we serve.  Roles for direct service volunteers are limited, but f you are interested in volunteering, please call Megan Wakeley at (904) 389-3857 x208 and she will set up a time to talk with you.  If it is determined you fit a need of the agency you will be asked to complete a volunteer application and possibly attend additional training.  JASMYN volunteer applications must be completed and approved prior to volunteering. Pre-registration for training sessions is required.  Call Megan Wakeley at the JASMYN office at (904) 389-3857 ext. 208 if you need more information about volunteering with JASMYN.

JASMYN is no longer accepting referrals of students wishing to complete the requirements of their Teaching Diverse Populations Class at the Florida State College-Jacksonville. 

JASMYN occassionally is able to support student internships or practicums.  In order to be considered for one these, you should sumbit a written cover letter, resume or vitae, and a clear statement of learning goals and objectives, availability, anticipated time frame, etc.  Mail to JASMYN, c/o Krista Girty, PO.BOX 380103, Jacksonville, FL 32205.

If you are between the ages of 18-23 and are interested in helping JASMYN, the best way to help is to participate in our various youth led programs and activities.  Young adults play critical roles in our Youth Council, D-Up Program, Impact Group, Leadership Activities and much more.  The best way to learn more about these opportunities is to come to our center on an evening when one of these activities are scheduled.  Please see the calendar of events for specific dates.
