Expectations for Peer Educators Responsibilities: 1. Learn, update, and provide information on sexual growth and development sexual identity issues, sexually transmitted diseases and other young adult social, sexual and health related issues. 2. Provide outreach and education services throughout the community aimed at reducing risk of HIV infection among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, straight, queer and questioning youth. 3. Make referrals to appropriate agencies when necessary. 4. Assist with informal and educational sessions. 5. Keep accurate records of activities. 6. Assist with other agency related events and as appropriate. Qualifications: 1. Must be 16-23 years of age. 2. Must successfully complete the peer education training program. Worker Traits: Is friendly and outgoing. Gets along well with others. Enjoys working with other people, especially peers. Is interested in public speaking. Is able to make and keep commitments. Is able to work independently. Is reliable and responsible. Has good verbal and written skills. Has leadership skills. Job Relationship: Supervised by: JASMYN Lead Peer Educator Stipend: $75 upon completion of the training program $75 upon successful completion of program (8 months) Hours: Temporary position, hours vary.
