Street Smart Coordinator
JASMYN’s mission is to build a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13-23 that will nurture their health and well-being and enhance pride and self esteem.
JASMYN is looking for someone who is energetic, creative, dedicated and enjoys working with young people to coordinate and facilitate our Street Smart program. Street Smart is a multi-session, skills building program to help high-risk youth practice safer sexual behaviors and reduce substance use. Street Smart addresses improving youths' social skills, assertiveness and coping through exercises on problem solving, identifying triggers, and reducing harmful behaviors.
JASMYN is seeking a creative individual that has a proven track record working with hard to serve youth with multiple issues, whom understands the unique needs of lgbtq youth and has experience facilitating group services.
Qualifications:
- BA in social work or a related field such as education, public health or psychology from an accredited university
- Familiarity and sensitivity in dealing with the unique needs of LGBTQ youth
- Experience with HIV prevention, testing, and health promotion programs
- Minimum of two years of working with adolescents
- Ability to relate to teens and young adults in an accepting, positive and healthy manner
- Demonstrated experience in positive youth development
- Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities and prepare regular reports
- Ability to develop and lead group and individual sessions with youth that have multiple needs.
- Strong assessment skills and ability to document and prioritize needs
- Strong community organizing and outreach skills
- Must pass criminal background checks
- Current FL driver’s license and clean driving record
Duties include:
- Coordinate all components of Street Smart behavioral intervention including CDC training, youth engagement and recruitment, development of Street Smart group session material, group sessions, individual risk assessments, data collection and evaluation, internal referral and team approach to co-facilitation and programming.
- Create and facilitate youth leadership, health education, and HIV prevention activities in the JASMYN drop in center
- Work closely with youth to assist them with their identified needs
- Support youth involvement in program planning and implementation
- Organize and plan program activities
- Encourage and facilitate youth participation through relationship building and following up on identified needs
- Assist other staff members with services offered, such as: HIV testing and counseling, case management referrals, health education, clinic, etc.
- Provide supportive services to youth at the drop in center
Hiring details:
- Full time position pays $13-15 per hour
- Benefits include paid holidays, health insurance and generous leave policy.
- Must be available to work flexible schedule that will include weekdays, evenings and some weekends.

Comprehensive Risk Counseling and Services Coordinator

JASMYN is looking for someone who is experienced and dedicated and enjoys working with young people to coordinate and facilitate our risk counseling services. The CRCS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the programmatic aspects of the CRCS intervention as well as being the lead staff to deliver the intervention. JASMYN is seeking an experienced individual that has a proven track record working with hard to serve youth with multiple issues, whom understands the unique needs of LGBTQ youth and has experience counseling with a harm reduction model.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in social work or a related field such as counseling, public health or psychology from an accredited university
- Masters degree preferred in social work or related field. At this time JASMYN is not able to provide hours for mental health counselors needing supervision for licensure.
- Familiarity and sensitivity dealing with the unique needs of LGBTQ youth
- Experience working with youth that have multiple needs and face multiple issues
- Experience with HIV prevention, testing, and health promotion programs
- Minimum of two years of working with adolescents in a counseling or case management role
- Ability to relate to teens and young adults in an accepting, positive and healthy manner
- Demonstrated experience with positive youth development and harm reduction
- Ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities and prepare regular reports
- Ability to develop and lead group and individual sessions with youth that have multiple needs and idenities
- Strong assessment skills and ability to document and prioritize needs

- Responsible for coordinating and building referral and collaboration networks
- Responsible for coordinating data collection and maintenance of records for CRCS clients.
- Responsible for coordinating CRCS through JASMYN STD clinic
- Stay up to date and current with all agencies and programs that will provide supportive services for participants
- Assist with recruitment and outreach
- Create and facilitate youth leadership, health education, and HIV prevention activities in the JASMYN drop in center
- Work closely with youth to assist them with their identified needs
- Support youth involvement in program planning and implementation
- Organize and plan program activities
- Encourage and facilitate youth participation through relationship building and following up on identified needs

- Provide outreach and supportive services to youth at the drop in center
